Shavonn Matsuda Shavonn is from Hāna, Maui, and enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and learning about history and cultures. She earned a concurrent degree in Political Science and Hawaiian Studies from UH Mānoa and is currently in her second year of the LIS program. Having experienced the difficulties our communities go through in trying to access our historical records, she entered the LIS program hoping to develop the skills necessary to help bridge the gap between memory institutions and our communities. Shavonn's current studies focus on Hawaiian knowledge systems and digital repositories; specifically, how digital repositories and related technologies can be integrated to promote and increase access to indigenous systems of knowledge.
