Board of Directors, 2014-2015
Kelly Ann Deluna Campbell
Aloha, my name is Kelly and I am a 2nd year student in the LIS program with an expected graduation date being Spring 2015. This is my first semester as a NHIL board member; previously I had been a member since 2013. My general interests in librarianship include Archives, Public and Academic Librarianship. My curiosity involving indigenous librarianship connected with my education in Archival Studies, where I learned preservation and conservation does not only apply to physical materials but also extends to the land we live on and the culture we immerse ourselves in. In my free time I likes reading graphic novels and playing video games. I was born and raised on Guam, moved to Oahu for college and I am proud to call Hawaiʻi home.
Pilialohamauloa Cashman
Aloha! My name is Pilialohamauloa Cashman, but everyone calls me Pili. I am currently in my 4th semester in the Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa program. In 2013, I graduated from Hawai‘inuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a bachelor’s degree in Hawaiian Studies. I have many research interests —my most influential of them is understanding the roles that indigenous libraries play with in youth and the community at large. I was born and raised in Hawai'i on the island of Oahu.
Kylie Kaʻeo
I received my B.A. in English here at UHM and am currently in my second semesters here in the LIS program. I hope to one day become a public librarian here in Hawaiʻi. Between classes I have two part time jobs here on campus as a circulation student in the Hawaiian and Pacific Special Collections and as a writing consultant in The Writing Center. When I am not studying I enjoy going on shore fishing with my cousins and friends.
Kīnaʻu McKeague
I graduated from the Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge at the University of Hawaʻi at Mānoa with my BA in Hawaiian Studies in the spring of 2014, and this is my second semester in the LIS program. My interests include indigenous librarianship, and I am currently pursuing the archives and special collections track. I was born and raised Waimānalo homestead on the east side of Oʻahu, and still reside there with my family. In my free time I like to relax by working on my restoration project 1967 Volkswagen Beetle.
Kealiʻikauila Niheu
Aloha, my name is Kealiʻikauila Niheu and I am from Pūowaina on Oʻahu and Puʻukapu on Hawaiʻi Island. I received my BA in Hawaiian Studies from Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. With a focus on Preservation and Archiving, I am in my second year of the LIS program and I will be graduating this Fall. I am currently a graduate research assistance (GRA) at Nā Waihona O Laka Me Lono Library Resource Center at Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, assisting haumāna & faculty of Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge with their informational needs. I believe that librarianship is vital for the protection and growth of not only of our ʻike Hawaiʻi for the lāhui Hawaiʻi, but for all indigenous lāhui throughout the world. Outside of school and work, I love to spend time with family and friends, reading, napping, eating, listening to music, shooting/editing photography and videos, traveling, watching Doctor Who, and exploring all that the ao kūlohelohe has to offer.
